§ 12.08.060. Appeal of the solid waste user fee.

  • A.

    Refund of the solid waste user fee will be considered under the following circumstances:

    1.

    The residential unit must have been vacant for the entire tax year.

    2.

    The property must have been the taxpayer's primary residence.

    3.

    The taxpayer must provide proof that electric/gas power to the residential unit has been shut off for the entire tax year.

    4.

    No waste from the property including yard waste, household trash, construction and demolition debris, etc. may be disposed of at any Colleton County waste disposal site.

    B.

    In order to be considered for such refund, the taxpayer must write a cover letter to the county administrator advising that the residence has been vacant for the full tax year and requesting council consideration for refund. A copy of the paid tax bill and required proof of power shut-off must accompany the letter.

    C.

    The administrator will place the request on a council meeting agenda as soon as possible in accordance with agenda item deadlines.
